Starlink recently boosted the monthly data allowance on its cheapest Roam plan from 50GB to 100GB. This data allowance increase comes at no extra cost and is available anywhere in the U.S.—but not yet in all markets worldwide.
Starlink’s Roam plans are the best option for high-speed internet on-the-go, perfect for frequent travelers, campers, or digital nomads. You technically get unlimited data with any Starlink plan, but the amount of high-speed data you get will vary depending on the plan you go with. Let’s get into what’s changed with Starlink’s most affordable Roam plan.

Starlink Roam 50GB is now Roam 100GB
Starlink currently offers two Roam plans, and the most affordable option now offers double the monthly high-speed data allowance. If you try out the Roam 100GB plan and later decide you need unlimited high-speed data, you can always swap over to the Roam Unlimited plan. But keep in mind that any upgrade you make will apply for the next billing cycle and is not a one-time change.
You’ll need a Starlink Mini that can run you up to $499, which is a hefty price for internet equipment, but a great long-term investment for those who need portable and fast internet. Starlink equipment prices change often, so keep an eye out for deals and price changes to Starlink plans and equipment in your area.
Starlink Roam plans
| Plan | Price | Speed |
|---|---|---|
| Roam 100GB | $50.00/mo.* | Up to 300Mbps |
| Roam Unlimited | $165.00/mo.* | Up to 300Mbps |
* Plus hardware, shipping & handling fees, and tax. Fully refundable. Depending on location, some orders may take 2 weeks or more to fulfill.
Changes to additional gigabyte purchases
One major change to Starlink’s Roam plans with this upgrade is the discontinuation of per-gigabyte purchase options. Now, customers will be notified when they reach 80% and 100% of their monthly high-speed Roam data allowance.
If you’re in a pinch and need to restore your high-speed data ASAP, you can always upgrade to the Roam Unlimited plan. But again, keep in mind this change will apply to future billing cycles once you’ve made the plan change. You can always downgrade your plan, but the change won’t take effect until the next billing cycle.
You’ll get unlimited data at reduced speeds after 100GB cap
Once you hit your cap, you’ll still have unlimited low-speed data until your next billing cycle. You’ll still be able to send emails, make calls, and send text messages. But if you’re planning on activities that rely on faster speeds, like making video calls, streaming, or downloading large files, you’ll need to upgrade or wait until your next billing cycle.

- Get a Starlink Residential Lite plan for $80 per month
- Get a 30-day trial of Starlink internet and if you don't like it, you'll get a full refund
Overall, a solid deal and great for unlimited data on-the-go
With the new Roam 100GB plan, you’ll get all the same benefits of the old Roam 50GB, now with double the monthly high-speed data allowance. But if you did rely on purchasing extra gigabytes when you ran out of data on the 50GB plan, you’ll want to upgrade to the Unlimited plan if you know you’ll need more than 100GB per month.
