Bronx Residential Internet Coverage

Covering dozens of diverse neighborhoods, the city of Bronx is one of the most well-known in the United States. Homes and businesses in this city have multiple internet service provider choices.

Fiber internet is available in every part of Bronx except Bronx Park through Verizon Fios.

internet provider RCN has a coverage area that runs down the western edge of the city, hitting neighborhoods like Riverdale, Redford Park, and Mount Eden. Coverage spreads through central neighborhoods like Westchester Square and Pellham Gardens, stretching to eastern neighborhoods like Throgs Neck.

Time Warner Cable covers a substantial part of Bronx, reaching the communities of Riverdale, Fieldston, North Riverdale, Kingsbridge, University Heights, and High Bridge.

Optimum's service area runs nearly opposite of Time Warner Cable, excluding the western communities served by TWC and serving central and eastern communities. Service covers northern areas like Wakefield and Williamsbridge, stretching down the east side of Bronx in neighborhoods like Pelham Bay and Edgewater Park. Southern communities within this service area include Hunts Point and Castle Hill.

Optimum service is satisfactory. Now and then, we've had prolonged outages but most of the time the outages last for just a minute or two. Still, I do not understand why there are so many outages. Otherwise, page loads and downloads are fairly swift.

Cablevision provides quality high-speed internet service. Downloads and page loads are swift and trouble-free. My one complaint is that outages of a short duration tend to occur frequently, sometimes once a day. The service reboots itself within a minute or two but still these outages are annoying and slow me down. My internet is bundled with TV and phone and the pricing is severe. For that reason, I am considering switching to something else as soon as it is feasible.

Cablevision offers decent speed, somewhat competitive pricing, their service is not that good at all, I lose my internet service every other weekend, and that is everybody in my building that has internet service with Cablevision, they never give you any credit for the at least ten hrs a month i don't have internet service.

Methodology

HighSpeedInternet.com compares internet providers within cities and metro areas to give customers the most relevant insights into their internet options. When comparing providers, we consider the following:

  • Provider coverage areas
  • Advertised speeds
  • Real-world speeds (speed test data)
  • Customer feedback
  • Other relevant localized data

We source localized coverage data displayed on our coverage maps from the FCC coverage database, which is updated every six months. For the most current summary of providers in your area, we recommend you use our zip code search tool, which offers the most recent coverage data straight from internet service providers (ISPs).

Our city overviews compare advertised provider speeds. We may also include real-world speed data gathered from millions of annual speed test results. To process our speed test data, we first filter out outliers and providers with low test counts. We then calculate speed averages with every ISP subject to the same parameters.

We gather ISP customer feedback data from our comprehensive annual surveys and direct customer feedback submitted to HighSpeedInternet.com. Unless stated otherwise, average ratings are calculated nationally.
