Moving is a huge step and usually a hard one to make. All the packing and planning can be stressful as it is. Leaving behind the home you’ve known for so long—the one echoing with fond memories—can be just as difficult as you bid farewell. T-Mobile wants to lessen your load with a home internet service you can take with you—no strings attached.
Meet T-Mobile 5G Home Internet
Plan | Price | Speed | Data allowance | Get it |
---|---|---|---|---|
T-Mobile 5G Home Internet Plus | $70.00/mo.* | 72–245Mbps | Unlimited | |
T-Mobile 5G Home Internet Unlimited | $50.00/mo.* | 72–245Mbps | Unlimited |
*w/ Auto Pay. Regulatory fees included in monthly price for qualified accounts. See full terms. Delivered via 5G cellular network; speeds vary due to factors affecting cellular networks, including data prioritization.
T-Mobile 5G Home Internet is a fixed wireless service. It accesses T-Mobile’s over-the-air 5G network, delivering speeds of up to 245Mbps. That’s enough bandwidth for a small family to stream 4K content, play games online, and download files quickly.
T-Mobile 5G Home Internet includes a gateway, unlimited data, and 4K video streaming support. You don’t need an existing internet connection for it to work—just place the gateway where it can receive the best signal.
The company recently introduced the 5G Home Internet Plus plan. It includes a mesh networking node that connects to the gateway and provides better whole-home Wi-Fi coverage. You also get unlimited technical support for all wireless devices connected to your Wi-Fi network.
The good news here is the affordable prices stay just that: affordable. T-Mobile doesn’t use the bait-and-switch promotional pricing other internet providers use to reel in customers. Instead, your rate should never go up, but if it does and you decide to leave, your last month is free.
Is T-Mobile 5G Home Internet available at your new home?
It should be! Still, enter your zip code to see if T-Mobile’s fixed wireless internet is available where you intend to live.
T-Mobile AWAY™ keeps you connected during the transition
Monthly data | Video streaming | Price | Get it |
---|---|---|---|
200GB | 1080p | $110.00/mo.* w/ Auto Pay | |
Unlimited | 1080p | $160.00/mo.* w/ Auto Pay |
* Delivered via T-Mobile’s 5G and 4G LTE cellular network; speeds vary due to factors affecting cellular networks, including data prioritization
T-Mobile’s upcoming AWAY service targets frequent travelers, but you can use it while transitioning between homes. The service includes a 5G gateway at no extra cost, supporting up to 64 devices. Just plug the gateway into any electrical outlet, connect your devices, and you’re good to go.
However, the unlimited plan has its limits. T-Mobile may throttle your speeds if you use more than 1.2TB of data in a given month. If you never plan to use more than 200GB, choose the cheaper AWAY plan instead.
Of course, you can still use T-Mobile AWAY once you settle into your new home. However, it’s ideal for camping, RVing, and other activities that involve long trips away from your new home.

While T-Mobile 5G Home Internet is fast and convenient, it may not have the speeds you need in your new home.
In 2021, T-Mobile first introduced a pilot home fiber internet service in a limited area of New York City. By 2023, the service expanded to other parts of the nation, including Colorado, Florida, and Illinois.
T-Mobile joins other internet providers like Spectrum, which have a core fiber network but haven’t made home fiber internet their primary product. However, T-Mobile appears to be changing that with its acquisition of Lumos, which adds roughly 320,000 homes to its fiber-to-the-home footprint. T-Mobile’s home fiber internet service is available in 18 U.S. markets.
Fiber is the best and most reliable internet connection you can get. Its speeds are symmetrical, meaning you get equal upload and download speeds. You can’t take it with you like with T-Mobile’s fixed wireless service, but what are your chances of moving again? The drawback is you may not get fiber where you plan to live, whereas T-Mobile’s fixed wireless is available nearly everywhere in the U.S.

Bottom line: T-Mobile has your back
It’s true: T-Mobile has your back if you need internet on the go and where you plan to live. Chances are, you’ll have access to T-Mobile’s 5G fixed wireless internet no matter where you plan to settle down, although we recommend its fiber internet if you can get it.
