What To Expect When Verizon Takes Over Frontier
Frontier customers could get higher prices but better bundling options

Verizon’s purchase of Frontier is looking more likely, and it could mean an increase of $10 to $30 on monthly bills for customers who currently subscribe to Frontier services.
The most recent hurdle to the proposed $20 billion sale was crossed during a special shareholder meeting on Nov. 13, when 63% of Frontier shareholders voted to approve the deal. Verizon shareholders had already approved by the time the deal was announced in September.
According to a press release from Frontier, the deal is expected to close in the second quarter of 2025.
Price increase for Frontier customers
If all goes as planned, Verizon will take over billing and branding for all Frontier customers.
Those customers may have to pay more, but are also likely to benefit from simplified billing (since Verizon doesn’t increase prices after a year, but Frontier does).
What will happen to Frontier’s Fiber 200Mbps plan?
Verizon doesn’t offer a 200Mbps plan, so customers could automatically get bumped up to the 300Mbps tier, which costs $49.99 per month. Right now, Frontier customers pay $29.99 per month in the first year and $39.99 per month after that.
What will happen to Frontiers’ Fiber 500Mbps plan?
Both Verizon Fios and Frontier offer a 500Mbps plan, but Frontier’s costs $44.99 per month in the first year and $54.99 per month after that. The Verizon plan costs $74.99 per month.
What will happen to Frontiers’ Fiber 1 Gig plan?
Frontier’s gigabit offering costs $64.99 per month in the first year and $74.99 after that, while Verizon charges $89.99 each month for the same speed.
What will happen to DSL customers?
We don’t know yet whether Verizon will continue offering DSL services to existing Frontier customers like it does its own DSL customers. However, Verizon does not offer DSL to new customers. Instead, it signs them up for its 4G LTE/5G fixed wireless service, Verizon 5G Home Internet.
What will happen to multi-gig plans?
Both Verizon and Frontier offer 2Gbps plans, and you can get 5 and 7 gig plans from Frontier. But … you probably shouldn’t. Most homes don’t have enough devices to use all that bandwidth, and their devices and routers are probably too slow to utilize the speed anyway.
If you don’t know how much speed you need, take our quick quiz to find out.

Will Frontier customers be happier with Verizon?
A $10 to $30 increase on your monthly internet price is serious business, especially when everything from eggs to haircuts seem to be going up in price. You might not be pleased about your switch to Verizon customer service either. Frontier outperformed Verizon in our customer surveys last year.
If you can get past the price hike and customer service, though, I think you’ll like Verizon’s bundling options. The company offers best-in-class mobile phone service, and you can save if you bundle.
The streaming options are better too. With Verizon, you can opt for Fios TV, which has the best personalization of any traditional TV service out there. If that doesn’t float your boat, you can pick from streaming service packages with options such as Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+, Netflix, AMC+, and Max.
