AT&T to Hike Fiber Internet Prices in November
Is the $5 monthly increase a dealbreaker?

News
AT&T is planning to raise prices on fiber internet by $5 per month starting on Nov. 10, 2024.
That means the cheapest plan will increase from $55 to $60 per month for speeds up to 300Mbps.
Here’s a look at how all the AT&T Fiber internet plans will be affected.
Plan name | Current price | Price after Nov. 10 |
---|---|---|
Internet 300 | $55.00/mo.* | $60.00/mo.* |
Internet 500 | $65.00/mo.* | $70.00/mo.* |
Internet 1 GIG | $80.00/mo.* | $85.00/mo.* |
Internet 2 GIG | $145.00/mo.* | $150.00/mo.* |
Internet 5 GIG | $245.00/mo.* | $250.00/mo.* |
*Above pricing is after $10/mo Autopay & Paperless bill discount with a debit card or bank account; if using a credit card, then price is $5/mo more. Pricing includes Equipment Fee. Up to $99 install fee may apply, plus tax where applicable.
Every AT&T fiber plan includes Wi-Fi equipment at no extra cost, and you never pay for data overages. There are no contracts, so no early termination fees apply.
In other words, AT&T bills match its advertised prices, and that’s a breath of fresh air. Other providers tack on fees or increase pricing after promo periods, so your bill may end up being higher than you expected.
Where can I get AT&T Fiber internet?
AT&T has the biggest fiber internet footprint in the U.S., reaching nearly 12% of all homes and businesses. You can find it in the Great Lakes area, throughout the South and Midwest, and in California.

How will AT&T’s new prices compare?
The monthly price for AT&T Fiber is already a little higher than the cheapest plans from other fiber internet providers. After the Nov. 10 price increase, it will be even higher.
In comparison, Frontier internet offers some of the cheapest starting prices for internet, but it forces you into an annual contract if you accept a gift card deal. It’s worth noting, Verizon is trying to buy Frontier, so prices could change.
Compared to highly regarded plans from Google Fiber, AT&T’s starting plans will be cheaper, and they’re still fast enough for most households.
How fiber internet plans will compare after the AT&T increase
Provider | Starting price | Max download speed on cheapest plan |
---|---|---|
Frontier | $29.99/mo.* | 200Mbps |
Quantum Fiber | $45.00/mo.† | 200Mbps |
Verizon Fios | $49.99/mo.‡ | 300Mbps |
AT&T | $60.00/mo.§ | 300Mbps |
Google Fiber | $70.00/mo.# | 1,000Mbps |

How do AT&T Fiber’s new prices compare to cable or 5G internet?
AT&T’s new fiber prices will also be higher every month than what you would pay for cable or 5G home internet service, but speeds will be faster and your connection will be much more reliable. AT&T also lets you dodge equipment fees, while other providers have time limits on free equipment or charge W-Fi connection fees.
Depending on where you live, you may have a choice between AT&T Fiber and Spectrum, Xfinity, or another cable provider.
You may also be able to get 5G home internet from AT&T itself or from a provider like T-Mobile or Verizon.
How can I save money on AT&T internet?
AT&T’s new prices are a low-key bummer, but you can save big time if you act fast! Here’s a sampling of the available perks and promotions:
- Get AT&T Fiber free for six months when you bundle with AT&T wireless and buy a smartphone on an installment plan (deal ends Jan. 6, 2025).
- Get a $150 reward card for ordering internet online. Card redemption required. Online only.
- Save 20% on your internet plan every month when you bundle with an eligible wireless plan.
- Save $10 per month when you sign up for Autopay and paperless billing.
- Get free AT&T Active Armor SM advanced internet security when you buy a plan of at least 2Gbps.

Is the AT&T price hike a dealbreaker?
It’s never fun to pay more for the same service, but AT&T Fiber internet is still a decent deal. The increase is just $5, and it’s hard to buy a decent burger and fries for that these days, let alone a bougie caramel latte or (my personal favorite) a bar of fine chocolate to power me through my internet news deadlines.
That said, AT&T is a huge provider, but it came in 15th among all the internet providers we analyzed in 2024, with a score of 6.3 out of 10. Cheaper fiber providers like Frontier and Verizon earned higher scores, as did cable providers like Xfinity and Spectrum.
That’s why I always recommend comparison shopping before you decide on a new internet provider. This provider comparison tool is a great place to start.
