Get Starlink’s New Residential Internet for $40 per Month

Get 100Mbps speeds with Starlink’s most affordable plan yet

Starlink silently dropped its newest and most affordable satellite residential internet plan yet, the Residential 100Mbps plan. Unfortunately, this plan isn’t part of Starlink’s nationwide lineup yet. But this isn’t unusual since Starlink usually rolls out plans and deals based on location. If you’re a light internet user who’s been eyeing Starlink’s service and are lucky enough to live in an area where it’s offered, you can snag this plan for as low as $40 per month.

Residential 100Mbps vs. Residential and Residential Lite

Like the plan name suggests, the download speeds for Starlink’s new plan cap at 100Mbps, while the Residential Lite plan caps at 250Mbps and the Residential plan at 400Mbps. You’ll still get unlimited data, but it will be deprioritized like the Residential Lite plan. The upload speeds won’t be capped, but they will vary depending on your location.

If you’re currently a Starlink Residential customer looking to downgrade your speeds for the new affordable plan, you can switch over to the 100Mbps if it appears as an option on your account. But again, availability will vary based on your address.

PlanPrice*Speed
Residential 100Mbps $40/mo.Up to 100Mbps
Residential Lite $80/mo.Up to 250Mbps
Residential $120/mo.Up to 400Mbps

Where Residential 100Mbps is available

There’s no official availability map for this plan yet, so the only way to know if your address is eligible is by checking directly on Starlink’s website.

Hardware costs

Starlink hardware costs vary by address, but the Starlink Standard Kit you’ll need typically runs for $349. You can occasionally snag the Standard Kit at a discounted price, but certain areas are currently eligible for $0 upfront hardware deals. If you aren’t eligible for any special deal, plan on spending $349 on equipment to set up your Starlink Residential plan.

Starlink’s most affordable plan for basic connectivity

The new 100Mbps will be best for smaller households with a few devices that need internet connection. You’ll be able to casually browse the internet, stream in 4K, and perform video calls. The 100Mbps plan costs half the price of the Residential Lite, officially dethroning it as Starlink’s most affordable Residential plan. If you want to get Starlink’s service on a budget with no contracts and a 30-day money-back guarantee, the 100Mbps plan won’t disappoint.
