Houston Residential Internet Coverage

In Houston, 87% of residents have access to broadband (internet with a download speed of at least 25 Mbps). That’s a higher percentage than the broadband availability for Texas as a whole (54%) and the national percentage of broadband availability (79%). Houston residents have a lot of broadband Internet Service Provider (ISP) options, but AT&T and Xfinity serve the most areas.

Although some ISPs offer service in more areas of Houston than others, no ISP services the entire city. This means the Internet Service Providers available at your home may be different than those available in other neighborhoods.

For example, Spectrum offers internet service in the Spring area, but Xfinity is the main cable internet provider to downtown Houston. Similarly, people living in the Baytown or League City areas can get internet service from Frontier, but AT&T would be the main fiber or DSL internet provider for most of Houston. CenturyLink also offers service in some Houston neighborhoods and surrounding areas.

“I have had Comcast / xfinity for many years with excellent results. My uptime is practically 100% and the few times I have had problems, the response time to fix the problem was quite rapid and reliable. I get fantastic bandwidth and would highly recommend xfinity to anyone shopping for high speed internet access in Houston.”

Some Houston residents may find themselves outside the service area of all the ISPs mentioned above. If this is you, don’t worry. You can still get high-quality internet service through a satellite internet provider like Viasat or HughesNet.

Most of these internet providers offer TV service, phone service, and bundling options to keep your costs down. To see which ISPs offer service in your corner of the city, use our availability map below.
