Brenan R | 10-10-2023

This company provided me and my family with the worst service I have ever encountered. We had spectrum for 2 years and our internet never ran properly. We had intermittent outages constantly that we were never compensated for. We had service techs at our house about 6 or 7 times and never had the problem fully resolved with the disconnects. When the internet WAS working it almost never worked at a speed that was advertised. They raised our bill to 143 dollars a month for their “best” internet and most basic streaming package through their app, we didn’t even have receivers. We finally had enough of overpriced services and outages, so we decided to discontinue service. We disconnected the service 8 days into the billing cycle and they charged us for the entire billing cycle which we tried to dispute. By far the worst experience we’ve had with a service provider of any sort. So I’ll end with this if you want overpriced service that underperforms, terrible customer service, and companies that have malicious business practices/policies- this is the provider for you. I would advise anyone to steer clear of Spectrum.

Methodology

HighSpeedInternet.com compares internet providers within cities and metro areas to give customers the most relevant insights into their internet options. When comparing providers, we consider the following:

  • Provider coverage areas
  • Advertised speeds
  • Real-world speeds (speed test data)
  • Customer feedback
  • Other relevant localized data

We source localized coverage data displayed on our coverage maps from the FCC coverage database, which is updated every six months. For the most current summary of providers in your area, we recommend you use our zip code search tool, which offers the most recent coverage data straight from internet service providers (ISPs).

Our city overviews compare advertised provider speeds. We may also include real-world speed data gathered from millions of annual speed test results. To process our speed test data, we first filter out outliers and providers with low test counts. We then calculate speed averages with every ISP subject to the same parameters.

We gather ISP customer feedback data from our comprehensive annual surveys and direct customer feedback submitted to HighSpeedInternet.com. Unless stated otherwise, average ratings are calculated nationally.
