Many customers get speeds that are even slower, according to data from our speed test. That said, you can still get a fast and reliable internet connection from CenturyLink in many areas.

Why choose CenturyLink for internet service?

You get a straight deal from CenturyLink—no need to worry about misleading promotions or sky-high price hikes here. Get the fiber internet plan for all the speed you need to stream, game, download, and Zoom on a multitude of devices—Wi-Fi equipment included. The DSL plan has more modest speeds and you have to pay $15 per month to rent a router, but you get unlimited data and freedom from contracts.

How CenturyLink compares

CenturyLink’s fiber internet plans beats out most cable providers like Cox, Spectrum, and Xfinity because it gives you faster speeds at a cheaper price. It also comes with unlimited data and no annual contract, which you don’t always get from a cable internet provider. However, CenturyLink’s DSL deal doesn’t quite compare to Cox and Xfinity’s budget plans, which cost less (at least in the first 12 months) and come with faster speeds.

AT&T is CenturyLink’s main fiber competitor. It has a wider range of fiber plans that all come at decent prices. But CenturyLink’s gigabit plan is $10 cheaper per month than AT&T’s, so we like CenturyLink more (although both are solid).
