Sioux Falls Residential Internet Coverage

As one of the largest cities in South Dakota, Sioux Falls also has some of the most diverse internet service options in the state.

For example, Centurylink Prism has a small service area in this city, but coverage may soon expand. Currently, they bring high-speed internet to part of West Sioux. CenturyLink, offering high-speed DSL, brings reliable coverage to the entire city of Sioux Falls.

WOW! is a major cable provider in South Dakota. The current coverage map includes part of West Sioux. In the central part of the city, WOW! covers downtown Sioux Falls and Beadle Greenway.

In the east, service is available in Riverside. The company also offers service to various undeveloped neighborhoods on the outskirts of Sioux Falls.

With coverage available in all of Sioux Falls, Midcontinent Communications is a popular choice in this region. In addition, customers in northeast Sioux Falls, Riverside, and undeveloped neighborhoods enjoy high-speed internet through Alliance Communications.

I have been a customer for over 10 years. We have always paid on time. We asked for an upgrade with a pricing that matched other competing companies we couldn't get an appt for 3 months. Our time frame for when the technician would show up was 8am to 5pm! I requested the day off of work. At 3:51 pm I received the following text: Hello, your CenturyLink tech was unable to complete your installation because inside access is required. Please reply CHANGE to set up a new date and time or contact us NO ONE EVER SHOWED UP TO MY HOUSE! I was home the entire day and never left. I called and they said they would page the technician and their supervisor......no one ever called back. I called again and all they would offer is to reschedule. Worst customer service I've ever had. I wasted a vacation day sitting at home waiting for no one to show up.

We have had Centurylink and the fastest speed in our area was too slow. We upgraded later and it was ok and the price stayed the same as the promo price is good for years if you bundle home phone, long distance ect. with them. Last week I upgraded to a faster speed again and don't notice any difference but are being charged more for this. Customer Service waits at times are long, I tried on different occasions to no avail getting through. Tried again another day and waited minutes. The Speed test shows my computer is not getting anywhere near the purchased mbps. Not real happy.

I am unhappy with CenturyLink as my provider for several reasons. It seems that every day I have to go back and reset the router several times a day because I lose the signal for the internet, and it is hard wired. Nobody including myself can use the wireless because it says there is no signal, and we are no farther than 5 feet from the router. If I am watching a movie it is constantly buffering all the way through. For what I am paying for the service I am very dissatisfied.

Methodology

HighSpeedInternet.com compares internet providers within cities and metro areas to give customers the most relevant insights into their internet options. When comparing providers, we consider the following:

  • Provider coverage areas
  • Advertised speeds
  • Real-world speeds (speed test data)
  • Customer feedback
  • Other relevant localized data

We source localized coverage data displayed on our coverage maps from the FCC coverage database, which is updated every six months. For the most current summary of providers in your area, we recommend you use our zip code search tool, which offers the most recent coverage data straight from internet service providers (ISPs).

Our city overviews compare advertised provider speeds. We may also include real-world speed data gathered from millions of annual speed test results. To process our speed test data, we first filter out outliers and providers with low test counts. We then calculate speed averages with every ISP subject to the same parameters.

We gather ISP customer feedback data from our comprehensive annual surveys and direct customer feedback submitted to HighSpeedInternet.com. Unless stated otherwise, average ratings are calculated nationally.
