Cable:

Cable provides internet speeds faster than DSL through the same cables used for cable TV.

Satellite:

Satellite internet is widely available, but offers slower speeds due to a far-traveling signal.

Fiber:

Fiber relies on glass strands to relay digital code and is much faster than both DSL and cable.

Speed:

Patricia J | 12-16-2014

At first the speed was adequate enough to accommodate my computer/internet requirement. I signed up for Netflix and Hulu and it worked for a few months. Then recently the speeds were down to a fraction of what is needed to use the internet. I made several support calls, they did testing over the phone, sent a repairman who gave me a new modem, etc. Finally, on my 3 or fourth call, they told me that repairs in Perry were causing all the trouble and they didn't know when the repairs would be done. All along, no one mentioned that the "hub" was being torn up and reconstructed (pardon my lack of the technical terms), so I kept trying to fix the problem. They did give me a credit for the three months since the construction started in September, but no idea when the repairs would be finished. Living out in the "sticks" not many providers are available, and i thought TDS would be a great solution. Now I am faced with finding another provider (there's one cable company in the area) or just going along with the slow speeds until the repairs are finished. And who knows when that will be. I feel someone at TDS should have informed their customers what the problem was and what they were doing about it. Yet they continue to advertise for new customers in the local papers, touting high speeds.
