Spectrum was Great at the beginning... I became a Spectrum customer in November of 2010. I had just internet and Basic TV. Around $70 as I remember. It started out fine. I was a bit of an internet Gamer and speeds were good enough for that. about 6 months in I noticed some channels would be missing. I would call and usually a 25 minute reboot would take care of it. Then about 2 years in the price went to $88. I also noticed that I could no longer rely on a channel being on for the full length of a Movie. Kind of a bummer to get digital pixels for 10 to 20 minutes at a time. Ok so another year in and I'm at $128 with all of the same features! Fast forward to last month... Bill is now $201 for basic cable TV and Internet. Not at My house!! It's gone! Canceled Spectrum! I'm so Happy! Spectrum is Crazy Expensive. Shoot! My car payment is only $249. And I'll give you 3 guesses where I would like to Drive their cable box. Cut the Cord! I did get a call about 3 days later from the Kindest sales rep. telling me how I could get back on board for $50. Sorry Spectrum! Too little too late. Should have called me when you raised me to $201.

Methodology

HighSpeedInternet.com compares internet providers within cities and metro areas to give customers the most relevant insights into their internet options. When comparing providers, we consider the following:

  • Provider coverage areas
  • Advertised speeds
  • Real-world speeds (speed test data)
  • Customer feedback
  • Other relevant localized data

We source localized coverage data displayed on our coverage maps from the FCC coverage database, which is updated every six months. For the most current summary of providers in your area, we recommend you use our zip code search tool, which offers the most recent coverage data straight from internet service providers (ISPs).

Our city overviews compare advertised provider speeds. We may also include real-world speed data gathered from millions of annual speed test results. To process our speed test data, we first filter out outliers and providers with low test counts. We then calculate speed averages with every ISP subject to the same parameters.

We gather ISP customer feedback data from our comprehensive annual surveys and direct customer feedback submitted to HighSpeedInternet.com. Unless stated otherwise, average ratings are calculated nationally.
