Reading Residential Internet Coverage

With nearly 100,000 people, Reading is a growing metropolitan area that is home to many businesses and households that require stable internet access. Luckily, there are many diverse cable, DSL, satellite, and fiber providers in this city.

Verizon is one of the most well-established ISPs in Reading, its service area solidly covering the entire city and reaching outlying rural areas.

Frontier Communications, which provides DSL to Reading, serves some northern neighborhoods like Northmont, Glenside, Stony Creek Mills, and Hampden Heights. Service is not generally available south of the Warren Street Bypass.

Far eastern Reading communities are covered by Windstream. Service reaches the neighborhoods of Stony Creek Mills, Hill Road, Schwarzwald Heights, and Jacksonwald. Service stops just short of 13th Street, so coverage is not available west of this area.

With a service map that reaches all of Reading's neighborhoods, Xfinity is a popular cable choice in this area. Similarly, TOAST.net spans all of Reading with its consistent coverage.

Through Megapath, those living east of Montrose Manor, Cornwall Terrace, and Whitfield have access to internet. The outlying neighborhood of Fritztown falls outside of Megapath's map.

Additionally, Level 3 Communications provides service through most of central Reading, running from north central areas like Riverview Park and Glenside through to Flying Hills and Pennwyn. On the way, service is available in Northmont, Oakbrook, and East Reading.

Quite a bit of Reading is served by Service Electric Cable TV, with the exception of central neighborhoods like Millmont, Canal Street, City Center, and Moss Street.

The service is reasonably good, but the price is expensive and continues to go up and the customer service is awful and continues to get worse. If the ability to fix billing issues or technical issues is important to you when deciding on an ISP stay far away from comcast.

I currently have Verizon, and since I have moved I have been having problems with my internet service. I have called several times to get help with the problem, but I continue to have problems with my service as far as speed is concerned. I am really interested in switching to another internet service provider.

I enjoy the internet service that I currently subscribe to. They may be a little on the expensive side, but they are overall dependable. I generally do not have any trouble logging in as well as staying connected while using the internet. The bills are straight forward and the customer service is good andhas always been helpful when I have needed them. They are professional and pride themselves in making the customer satisfied.

Love how fast my cable internet from Comcast is. It's kinda pricey tho and I do wish customer service was better, but it is the best in my area.

Live in a small town or suburb outside of Reading? We got you covered, too.

Methodology

HighSpeedInternet.com compares internet providers within cities and metro areas to give customers the most relevant insights into their internet options. When comparing providers, we consider the following:

  • Provider coverage areas
  • Advertised speeds
  • Real-world speeds (speed test data)
  • Customer feedback
  • Other relevant localized data

We source localized coverage data displayed on our coverage maps from the FCC coverage database, which is updated every six months. For the most current summary of providers in your area, we recommend you use our zip code search tool, which offers the most recent coverage data straight from internet service providers (ISPs).

Our city overviews compare advertised provider speeds. We may also include real-world speed data gathered from millions of annual speed test results. To process our speed test data, we first filter out outliers and providers with low test counts. We then calculate speed averages with every ISP subject to the same parameters.

We gather ISP customer feedback data from our comprehensive annual surveys and direct customer feedback submitted to HighSpeedInternet.com. Unless stated otherwise, average ratings are calculated nationally.
