Tallahassee Residential Internet Coverage

The northern Florida city of Tallahassee has many developed neighborhoods, all of which have access to different internet service providers and companies.

Fiber internet is a popular choice for Tallahassee customers. Centurylink Prism offers coverage to many large Tallahassee neighborhoods, from Golden Eagle and Killearn Lakes in the north to Southwood and Blairstone Forest in the south. Similarly, the CenturyLink DSL network is very expansive. It runs through the entirety of Tallahassee, beginning with Savannah Crossing and Huntington Woods in the west and moving to Observation Pointe and Goose Creek in the east.

Cable is available through Xfinity. Generally, the network reaches all of Tallahassee, although the central area of Woodland Drives falls outside the service area.

Mediacom offers high-speed service in many northern areas, including High Grove, Bull Run, and Ox Bottom Manor. Service is available in a few central neighborhoods, like Woodland Drives and Waverly Hills, picking back up full force in the southern half of Tallahassee.

High-speed fiber coverage is also offered to much of the city through FPL FiberNet, which reaches all of Tallahassee except the northeast area.

Taken 15 hours to update service to a reasonable as they lied on year contract about month which they said yes but hid the fact there was a $30 tv connection fee each month (never used it) tried to switch but they updated all available plans on me to be way over $100 so I was stuck- record your calls, take screen shots of messages this is the most crooked company

I live about 300 meters from a junction box, so I have consistently high speeds and very few outages. Their prices are pretty high, but I'm willing to pay, especially since they're the only ISP that provides speeds over about 150Mbps in my area. I'm having problems with upload speed (0.2-0.25 as opposed to the average of 11-12). Xfinity's tech support is the worst I've experienced in 35 years of doing tech support and dealing with manufacturers and ISPs. The chat bot has a very limited vocabulary, and an even more limited repertoire of responses. It is possible to get through on the phone; it merely takes persistence, patience, and the ability to deal with varying accents. I've dealt with Hindi, Palkistani, Hispanic, and Russian accents. When I did get a tech to visit (within about 36 hours -- good response time), he was an intelligent young man with a good work ethic but not enough training and experience. He did the best he could, but this problem would baffle a highly skilled and experienced technician. He said he would escalate it; it's only been a day, so I'm hoping for the best. I won't go into the Xfinity app; that's a whole different story, and will be the subject of a letter to upper level management.

I'm paying for their "Gigabit Extra Plan" which shows a high speed from THEIR rigged ISP speed test. Other speed tests shows at least 70% less than what Xfinity's "Speedtest" shows. I experience low speeds, lags, latency issues, to name a few consistent problems using Xfinity services. Very disappointed with this company and it's ONLY because they're a monopoly (Capitalism best practice) that there's no other option but to use this company! Disgusted with this BS!

I have had ok results with the actual internet. Even after I increased my speed and bought a new router it doesn't seem as fast as should. As far as customer service goes, i have had one really bad experience, but usually the people are nice and helpful. Definitely beats dealing with Comcast.

Live in a small town or suburb outside of Tallahassee? We got you covered, too.

Methodology

HighSpeedInternet.com compares internet providers within cities and metro areas to give customers the most relevant insights into their internet options. When comparing providers, we consider the following:

  • Provider coverage areas
  • Advertised speeds
  • Real-world speeds (speed test data)
  • Customer feedback
  • Other relevant localized data

We source localized coverage data displayed on our coverage maps from the FCC coverage database, which is updated every six months. For the most current summary of providers in your area, we recommend you use our zip code search tool, which offers the most recent coverage data straight from internet service providers (ISPs).

Our city overviews compare advertised provider speeds. We may also include real-world speed data gathered from millions of annual speed test results. To process our speed test data, we first filter out outliers and providers with low test counts. We then calculate speed averages with every ISP subject to the same parameters.

We gather ISP customer feedback data from our comprehensive annual surveys and direct customer feedback submitted to HighSpeedInternet.com. Unless stated otherwise, average ratings are calculated nationally.
