Cedar Rapids Residential Internet Coverage

Running across the Cedar River, the city of Cedar Rapids is comprised of a northern half and a southern half, both of which have access to extensive internet service provider options.

The entirety of Cedar Rapids falls into the service area of CenturyLink, which offers high-speed DSL service.

Those living in the eastern part of Harbor have access to internet through Windstream, although service does not extend beyond this small part of Cedar Rapids.

Mediacom provides coverage to nearly all of Cedar Rapids, although they do not offer service to the far east side of South West.

Service provider USA Communications is established in the part of Cedar Rapids that lies north of the Cedar River. It reaches neighborhoods like Northwest, Oakhill-Jackson, Wellington Heights, and Mound View.

As its name implies, South Slope Cooperative Communications brings internet to the part of Cedar Rapids that lies south of the river. This primarily includes the neighborhood of South West, but also includes Harbor and Taylor.

Skybeam spans all of Cedar Rapids, providing seamless coverage across both sides of the river.

And if those weren_t enough options for the great people of Cedar Rapids, through ImOn Communications, most of South West has internet coverage, as do the neighborhoods of Northwest, Cedar Hills, Noelridge, Kenwood Park, and Moundview.

Five stars to Jason for his analysis and repair process to resolve our problem. His attention to detail was very apparent. ImOn is lucky to have him on their team.

As a network administrator and owner of the Cedar Rapids Computer Clinic, I can say that imon is overall the best ISP in the area. I have had everyone else. Mediacom is down a lot of the time. Their customer service is horrible and they are known for adding frivolous and outlandish charges on customers bills. I have had imon for two years, and never lost my connection, except during power outages. At one point during a power outage, I hooked up a power wheels battery and powered my modem and router with it. Had internet on my laptops lol. Imon is very fast and very reasonably priced. I love them. Century link is well priced and reliable for most, but their speeds are a slow crawl at best.

I have used this service in and off the past few years. It wasn't available in one place I lived at in Iowa. Their rates are so much better than Mediacom, who charges more. Imon keeps their costs down. They offer as many choices as Mediacom and I can actually get a hold of someone on the phone which is much better.

See internet providers in nearby cities.

Live in a small town or suburb outside of Cedar Rapids? We got you covered, too.

Methodology

HighSpeedInternet.com compares internet providers within cities and metro areas to give customers the most relevant insights into their internet options. When comparing providers, we consider the following:

  • Provider coverage areas
  • Advertised speeds
  • Real-world speeds (speed test data)
  • Customer feedback
  • Other relevant localized data

We source localized coverage data displayed on our coverage maps from the FCC coverage database, which is updated every six months. For the most current summary of providers in your area, we recommend you use our zip code search tool, which offers the most recent coverage data straight from internet service providers (ISPs).

Our city overviews compare advertised provider speeds. We may also include real-world speed data gathered from millions of annual speed test results. To process our speed test data, we first filter out outliers and providers with low test counts. We then calculate speed averages with every ISP subject to the same parameters.

We gather ISP customer feedback data from our comprehensive annual surveys and direct customer feedback submitted to HighSpeedInternet.com. Unless stated otherwise, average ratings are calculated nationally.
