Topeka Residential Internet Coverage

Depending on your preferences, Topeka internet service providers offer satellite, cable, DSL, and fiber internet.

One of the main fiber internet providers in this city is Centurylink Prism. This company has a limited fiber network in Topeka that currently covers part of the northwestern part of the city, starting west of Northwest Topeka Boulevard.

CenturyLink has a slightly larger service area in this city, beginning north of the Kansas River. A significant part of the Elmont neighborhood falls within the CenturyLink service area, as do parts of North Topeka and the neighborhoods near Indian Creek Road. There is no CenturyLink coverage available south of the Kansas River.

AT&T, which offers both fiber internet and DSL internet, is very well-established in Topeka. Between the company's DSL network and its fiber network, it covers the entirety of Topeka and extends into neighboring communities. Service is available in the far western neighborhoods near Cannock Chase Road and Fairlawn Road, running through the center of the city to the eastern neighborhoods of Tecumseh and Spencer. The network reaches the northern city limits in North Topeka and reaches the southern neighborhoods of Pauline and Cullen Village.

DSL:

DSL provides internet service via phone cables and is up to ten times faster than dial-up service.

Cable:

Cable provides internet speeds faster than DSL through the same cables used for cable TV.

Satellite:

Satellite internet is widely available, but offers slower speeds due to a far-traveling signal.

Fiber:

Fiber relies on glass strands to relay digital code and is much faster than both DSL and cable.

Very poor service and speeds. They are not consistent, many days without internet and no followup to improve services.

I had Mercury upgrade my service today. Dakota Price was the technician on the project and he did an absolutely fantastic job. I was pretty tied up with work and he promised and delivered the upgrade outage in less than 10 minutes. Unbelievably good service. I have had some issues with service calls in the past, but Dakota completely was fast, neat and professional. He recaptured my faith in the company. I also talked with Sierra and she was also fantastic to work with. Great job. THANKS

Hi, I have U-verse installed for my mom in Topeka KS. I can not believe the price is almost f**r h*****d dollars per month for the triple bundle. Phone, internet, and TV. That is double the agreed amount. Not only that the outages are constant. I can't always log in, and the customer service agents can not communicate properly. We were told to apply for att.com/access for my disabled mom for a discounted and still no response after two weeks. I guess it is legal in Kansas to provide poor service for a high price. It really is not right. I hope a better company steps up soon.

It works but I seem to have to call several times a year because they have to reset things from their end. I wish it was faster. Yet I cannot complain too much.

Been a customer for 30 years. Moved to a different address a year and a half ago and nothing but problems. They know there is a damaged main line in the area but they never fix it like they say they will. They just put a booster on the line to try to make it work. I lose service all the time and usually have to wait three days to get a tech out to patch the problem again. They never fix the actual problem. This time I'm turning in my cable boxes and can't wait for a reliable internet provider to give them competition here.

Methodology

HighSpeedInternet.com compares internet providers within cities and metro areas to give customers the most relevant insights into their internet options. When comparing providers, we consider the following:

  • Provider coverage areas
  • Advertised speeds
  • Real-world speeds (speed test data)
  • Customer feedback
  • Other relevant localized data

We source localized coverage data displayed on our coverage maps from the FCC coverage database, which is updated every six months. For the most current summary of providers in your area, we recommend you use our zip code search tool, which offers the most recent coverage data straight from internet service providers (ISPs).

Our city overviews compare advertised provider speeds. We may also include real-world speed data gathered from millions of annual speed test results. To process our speed test data, we first filter out outliers and providers with low test counts. We then calculate speed averages with every ISP subject to the same parameters.

We gather ISP customer feedback data from our comprehensive annual surveys and direct customer feedback submitted to HighSpeedInternet.com. Unless stated otherwise, average ratings are calculated nationally.
