This is a monopoly in my area otherwise I would have switched. While they do offer low internet rates, their data caps are absurdly low, especially with today's necessary usage. The overage charges are extremely high so i'm having to pay $100 extra despite upgrading. The internet is slow and is constantly out and sometimes freezes.

Am paying for 400 mbps service. It is often below 200 mbps, and has intermitten periods when I have no access. Suddenlink techs have changed my modem 3 or 4 times, changed the cable from their pole to my house, changed the splitters, and none of those have resolved the issue. The sales folks told me that I should never have speeds less than 360 mbps, but the support folks tell me that I am paying for service up to 400 mbps, and that it is normal to have slower speeds. They apologize for the intermittent drops. They do not offer refund of fees they charge, and they refuse to allow me to talk to a supervisor or file a complaint.

While the first week of using Frontier as our internet provider worked OK, 1 week after installing our internet completely cut out. Not "worked every once in a while". IT STOPPED WORKING ALL TOGETHER. After multiple frustrating calls and lots of waiting, they told us that it was just not working for some reason and they "have trouble in our area". We live in a town, not the country, theres no reason this should have happened. Next they tell us its going to be a week for a technician to get to us. With a teacher and a college student living in the house, there's no way we could wait that long. We cancelled our plan and went to a different provider. Do NOT use Frontier.

See internet providers in nearby cities.

Live in a small town or suburb outside of Bryan? We got you covered, too.

Methodology

HighSpeedInternet.com compares internet providers within cities and metro areas to give customers the most relevant insights into their internet options. When comparing providers, we consider the following:

  • Provider coverage areas
  • Advertised speeds
  • Real-world speeds (speed test data)
  • Customer feedback
  • Other relevant localized data

We source localized coverage data displayed on our coverage maps from the FCC coverage database, which is updated every six months. For the most current summary of providers in your area, we recommend you use our zip code search tool, which offers the most recent coverage data straight from internet service providers (ISPs).

Our city overviews compare advertised provider speeds. We may also include real-world speed data gathered from millions of annual speed test results. To process our speed test data, we first filter out outliers and providers with low test counts. We then calculate speed averages with every ISP subject to the same parameters.

We gather ISP customer feedback data from our comprehensive annual surveys and direct customer feedback submitted to HighSpeedInternet.com. Unless stated otherwise, average ratings are calculated nationally.
