Santa Monica Residential Internet Coverage
Living right on the coast of the Pacific Island and bordering Los Angeles, Santa Monica residents get to enjoy many luxuries. However, having a vast selection of internet providers to choose amongst is not one of them.
Time Warner Cable Spectrum advertises over 300 Mbps of high-speed internet to the entire community of Santa Monica. This includes download speeds, though upload speeds can still reach up to 25 Mbps for most residents.
HughesNet also services all of Santa Monica with satellite internet, which only requires a tenant or homeowner to have open access to the southern skies on the roof, so a dish can be installed. They provide up to 15 Mbps in download speeds, though only during clear weather. During windy or rainy conditions, it can drop speeds significantly for residents.
The last provider available in Santa Monica is Frontier Communications, but they do offer both DSL and fiber optics internet. While Frontier Communications is available throughout all Santa Monica, residents may not have access to both DSL and fiber optics.
Residents living from the Pacific shore up toward 23rd Street will have access to fiber optics internet, with the download and upload speeds being around 100 Mbps. Those living above 23rd street may not have access to the fiber optics internet through Frontier.
Communities located from 4th Street and up will have access to Frontier's DSL services, which gives up to 15 Mbps in download speeds. Though, almost half of the residents report getting speeds between 3-to-10 Mbps. Residents between 1st Street to 3rd Street won't have access to DSL services.
