Richmond Residential Internet Coverage

Tucked into the suburbs of Texas, the city of Richmond is a growing community that prioritizes access to high speed internet. Most of Richmond can access at least one type of high speed internet, with much of the city falling into multiple coverage areas. All in all, nearly 90% of Richmond has access to high speed service.

Through AT&T, high speed DSL is a convenient option that is available in most of Richmond. The AT&T network sprawls across the city, reaching 87% of homes. Service is primarily available south of the Westpark Tollway, although a few other neighborhoods are covered.

If you're looking for cable service, Xfinity is one option to consider. The coverage area reaches 85% of Richmond homes. A small part of Richmond also gets cable service from En-Touch Systems.

Business plans are an option through several companies. Megapath gives business owners a choice between copper wire and DSL.

Horrible...absolutely horrible experience with Xfinity. I am supposed to be in a fixed contract for 1 year, but they continue to change the monthly billing just out of nowhere. And trying to get customer service on the phone is next to impossible. Then, I have to go through all of the numbers and explain to them what is wrong. This is the very worst ISP ever! Customer service - horrible. I do know that Starlink is now available in some areas of south Texas so everyone get ready to switch!

Xfinity has been charging me $8 per month for some digital converter that I don't have. Whenever I notice that extra charge, I spend long hours taking to the customer service to get it removed and then they charge again. They cannot provide details for what is that device. I have my own cable modem and I don't use any digital TV. Also, their internet service is terrible as I have new NetGear modem and whenever it rains, I have to reset the modem because the speed drops from 1GB to 80 MB. They don't have any direct contact number and it is extremely difficult to get hold of their customer service with should start from chat. I have been their customer for over 5 years and started noticing the problems in the past year. Their customer service reps only care about getting good surveys but the issues are not resolved. Last year, I complained about the line issue and the service rep charged me $200 even though the issue was not found inside my house. I spent over two months chasing them for the refund which they promised and I have not seen that refunded in the past year. If this is how Xfinity wants to retain customers, then I am ready to switch to another provider.

See internet providers in nearby cities.

Live in a small town or suburb outside of Richmond? We got you covered, too.

Methodology

HighSpeedInternet.com compares internet providers within cities and metro areas to give customers the most relevant insights into their internet options. When comparing providers, we consider the following:

  • Provider coverage areas
  • Advertised speeds
  • Real-world speeds (speed test data)
  • Customer feedback
  • Other relevant localized data

We source localized coverage data displayed on our coverage maps from the FCC coverage database, which is updated every six months. For the most current summary of providers in your area, we recommend you use our zip code search tool, which offers the most recent coverage data straight from internet service providers (ISPs).

Our city overviews compare advertised provider speeds. We may also include real-world speed data gathered from millions of annual speed test results. To process our speed test data, we first filter out outliers and providers with low test counts. We then calculate speed averages with every ISP subject to the same parameters.

We gather ISP customer feedback data from our comprehensive annual surveys and direct customer feedback submitted to HighSpeedInternet.com. Unless stated otherwise, average ratings are calculated nationally.
