Lexington-Fayette urban Residential Internet Coverage

Although Lexington-Fayette is fairly small in geographic size, it is one of the most developed metropolitan areas in Kentucky.

Those wanting to sign up for DSL or fiber internet often choose AT&T. This network covers central neighborhoods like Southern Park, Central Downtown, and Douglas Park. Some outlying southern neighborhoods are included, like Idle Hour and Southeastern Hills.

Through Windstream, all of Lexington-Fayette has access to high-speed service, with the exception of part of the neighborhood surrounding the University of Kentucky. The same is true for Time Warner Cable, which has a network that reaches well beyond city limits in all directions.

Regional provider TOAST.net has a growing network in Lexington. It reaches far northern neighborhoods like Douglas Park, Northland, and Hollow Creek. Some southern neighborhoods also enjoy coverage, like Blueberry Hill and Jamestown. There is little service available in the central part of the city, and in the far western or eastern areas of Lexington-Fayette.

They like to change the bill by saying your now in tier two pricing but still getting a promotion. The speed is horrible and depending on what time of day it fluctuates between cutting off and connecting. I hate that we have few options and them knowing this makes their customer service even worst.

I would like to start this out by saying Spectrum is really the only option for internet where I live. The speed and service is reliable, however I feel the pricing is a bit much. I have repeatedly been promised discounts and have only been met with difficulty and price increases. I have been with them for 2 years and have never missed a payment. I wish they cared more about their customers over their bottom line. I would be incredibly satisfied if they rethought their pricing, however they will not because there is little to no competition in the area.

Methodology

HighSpeedInternet.com compares internet providers within cities and metro areas to give customers the most relevant insights into their internet options. When comparing providers, we consider the following:

  • Provider coverage areas
  • Advertised speeds
  • Real-world speeds (speed test data)
  • Customer feedback
  • Other relevant localized data

We source localized coverage data displayed on our coverage maps from the FCC coverage database, which is updated every six months. For the most current summary of providers in your area, we recommend you use our zip code search tool, which offers the most recent coverage data straight from internet service providers (ISPs).

Our city overviews compare advertised provider speeds. We may also include real-world speed data gathered from millions of annual speed test results. To process our speed test data, we first filter out outliers and providers with low test counts. We then calculate speed averages with every ISP subject to the same parameters.

We gather ISP customer feedback data from our comprehensive annual surveys and direct customer feedback submitted to HighSpeedInternet.com. Unless stated otherwise, average ratings are calculated nationally.
