Long Beach Residential Internet Coverage

As one of the largest cities in California, Long Beach has a rapidly growing need for high-speed internet that keeps up with its residents and tourists.

Fiber is available through Frontier, which services the Wilmington area, downtown Long Beach, and the Naples-Marina area. Other covered areas include East Side, Circle Area, Poly High, and Wrigley. Service is not widely available in the northeastern part of Long Beach.

Customers can choose fiber or DSL from AT&T. AT&T provides coverage to a large area of Long Beach, with the exception of central communities like downtown, Belmont Heights, Belmont Shore, North Long Beach, and Northwest Long Beach.

However, the central neighborhoods of Long Beach are in the coverage map of Frontier Communications. Areas served by Frontier include downtown, Poly High, Wrigley, Los Cerritos, and Signal Hill.

Cable internet from Time Warner Cable is limited to a fairly small service area in Long Beach, including part of Wilmington and a few areas along the southwest coast. Charter includes the entire city of Long Beach in its coverage area.

A small part of Wilmington, the airport area, and the Naples-Marina area all have internet access through New Edge Networks.

Finally, Sonic.net provides service to a small part of northeastern Long Beach, including the Bixby area.

They raised price 3 time during the Pandemic. No other option to switch to differnt ISP (Monopoly) always outdage and no reimbursement. Paying $99 for 500 down 20 upload, I work from home and it takes about 7-9 hours to upload work each night. Government should look into this thug ISP.

Extremely high! Patronizes the customers. I was with them for many, many years and the bill jumped up! Then I was told they had nothing for loyal customers only new customers and to close my account for 30 days and come back. I did and my bill was higher than when I closed it and it continues to climb with no help to lower the pay, ent. To remove anything only lowers you bill a very small fraction!

Methodology

HighSpeedInternet.com compares internet providers within cities and metro areas to give customers the most relevant insights into their internet options. When comparing providers, we consider the following:

  • Provider coverage areas
  • Advertised speeds
  • Real-world speeds (speed test data)
  • Customer feedback
  • Other relevant localized data

We source localized coverage data displayed on our coverage maps from the FCC coverage database, which is updated every six months. For the most current summary of providers in your area, we recommend you use our zip code search tool, which offers the most recent coverage data straight from internet service providers (ISPs).

Our city overviews compare advertised provider speeds. We may also include real-world speed data gathered from millions of annual speed test results. To process our speed test data, we first filter out outliers and providers with low test counts. We then calculate speed averages with every ISP subject to the same parameters.

We gather ISP customer feedback data from our comprehensive annual surveys and direct customer feedback submitted to HighSpeedInternet.com. Unless stated otherwise, average ratings are calculated nationally.
