Wake Forest is a city on the rise. Middle and upper-middle class individuals and families have been moving to the area and building new homes at a fast pace. The white-collar town residents are well-educated and more than 10% of them telecommute. The high-rate of individuals who telecommute and the large percentage of families living in Wake Forest mean that residents depend on a consistent internet connection for both work and school.

Cable internet users receive service from Time Warner Spectrum. Residents who prefer DSL can choose between CenturyLink and AT&T. CenturyLink reaches 84% of residents. AT&T's reach is smaller at only 3% of residents along Rolesville Rd. Fiber optic connections are not yet available to residents in Wake Forest.

On the other hand, some businesses can get fiber optics from Level 3 Communications and MCNC. Level 3 Communications currently reached 4% of commercial enterprises and MCNC reaches 1%. Fiber optic offerings are expected to grow as the infrastructure becomes available.

Spectrum is all right if you only need its service for one year or two depending on the offer you choose. Afterwards, get ready to see your bill go up almost monthly. Mine has gone from around $99 (bundled with BASIC TV-no premium anything) to a whapping $220. Their game is all the FEES attached to your bill (which go up randomly, to include a ridiculous fee for their cable box use). As others have already said, speeds are not 100% reliable, especially around peak times. Sadly, theirs is still a best option locally (when you consider other competitors). As for their customer service, is there such thing? Ting will be the next best thing in my area when it becomes available (Wake Forest, NC).

I thought i could stay with Spectrum for a while, but that changed real quick. My bill has risen 75% Since June 2022 and that's just for the lowest internet and TV they offer. That's just sick!!!! I get a $30 federal assistance per month but that's not enough to cover the $175+ bill. Spectrum is just another greedy corporation 🙁

The worst experience with a provider. Since the second day, the internet hasn’t been working. After the install, they are least interested in helping out since they are billing you nevertheless. I do admit the speed (when working) is decent. Customer service needs a lot of work! Poor service overall

See internet providers in nearby cities.

Live in a small town or suburb outside of Wake Forest? We got you covered, too.

Methodology

HighSpeedInternet.com compares internet providers within cities and metro areas to give customers the most relevant insights into their internet options. When comparing providers, we consider the following:

  • Provider coverage areas
  • Advertised speeds
  • Real-world speeds (speed test data)
  • Customer feedback
  • Other relevant localized data

We source localized coverage data displayed on our coverage maps from the FCC coverage database, which is updated every six months. For the most current summary of providers in your area, we recommend you use our zip code search tool, which offers the most recent coverage data straight from internet service providers (ISPs).

Our city overviews compare advertised provider speeds. We may also include real-world speed data gathered from millions of annual speed test results. To process our speed test data, we first filter out outliers and providers with low test counts. We then calculate speed averages with every ISP subject to the same parameters.

We gather ISP customer feedback data from our comprehensive annual surveys and direct customer feedback submitted to HighSpeedInternet.com. Unless stated otherwise, average ratings are calculated nationally.
